The city has coordinated a 7 p.m. Dec. 10 public meeting on the restoration of the wave-ravaged four-block section of A1A between Northeast 14th Court and Northeast 18th Street north of Sunrise Boulevard.
PUBLIC NOTICE: The city has set up a community forum to discuss the status of State Road A1A and the beach in the area heavily affected by recent storms and wind.
The meeting will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Beach Community Center, 3351 NE 33 Avenue. Staff from the government agencies involved will be on hand. All impacted residents and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend.

We encourage anyone able to attend and make sure the City of Ft. Lauderdale isn't considering any inappropriate projects like armoring, dredge and dump, etc..

We need to help find the best solution for Ft. Lauderdale Beach!
In areas where erosion threatens existing coastal development, the Surfrider Foundation advocates appropriate long-term solutions that maximize public benefit. These include:
- Landward retreat of structures from dynamic shorelines
Where landward retreat is not feasible, beach nourishment projects may be considered, on a case by case basis, as viable alternatives for short-term beach preservation.
Under no circumstances does the Surfrider Foundation support the installation of stabilization or sand retention structures along the coastline. Such structures can protect existing coastline development but have no place in beach preservation.
